HDK 2016!
Hockey Day Korea (HDK) 2016 will be held at our home rink in Jamsil next Saturday, November 5th from 12-4pm!
Eric Walsh, Canadian Ambassador to Korea will be on hand for the opening ceremony.
As well, Sarah Murray, coach of the Korea Women’s National Ice Hockey team will attend along with 8 national team players! The Korea Times and Korea Herald will also be on hand to cover the event.
After the opening ceremony at 12:30pm, Team Korea ball hockey along with National Women’s Team players will be teaching ball hockey skills to kids from Chadwick International and CBIS schools. In addition, HDK will be raising money to donate to ‘The Oak Tree Project,’ a charity group aimed at supporting underprivileged Korean children.
Following the kids skills camps: at 3pm Team Korea will take on the ‘Team Bauer’ All-Stars made up of the Korea Women’s team along with other players on hand for the day. This should be a lot of fun for everyone to wrap up the event!
Furthermore, in addition to raising money for charity and bringing together various members of the community who really care about ball hockey, this event is also aimed at raising awareness for CBHK to continue thriving in the long term, in the face of potentially losing the rink to construction projects.
If you’d like to become involved in HDK, that’d be terrific!
Send an email to Colin Gennoe at cgennoe@yahoo.ca or text him at 010-5633-0558.
Hope to see you at the rink next Saturday!
